I was pleased when I came across these guidelines\u00a0while researching\u00a0a similar\u00a0topic on-line in the\u00a0U.S.\u00a0 I was looking for more guidance for myself and my clients.\u00a0 I will briefly tell you about\u00a0them.<\/p>\n
The Principles<\/em>\u00a0were developed by lawyers – The Advocates’ Society, Ontario –\u00a0to guide lawyers and the justice system. (Ref. 1)\u00a0\u00a0The Principles<\/em>\u00a0will also guide\u00a0experts.\u00a0 To me, an engineer,\u00a0they\u00a0appear comprehensive\u00a0and well\u00a0founded.\u00a0\u00a0They should be read by all of us:\u00a0Lawyers, insurance claims managers and consultants, experts, and our clients,\u00a0and all of us\u00a0be guided by\u00a0them.<\/p>\n The Advocates` Society has identified nine (9) principles.\u00a0\u00a0These are stated and then commented on in the document.<\/p>\n As indicated in the document’s overview,\u00a0it was developed and reviewed by several dozen senior lawyers representing different areas of legal\u00a0practice and different organizations.\u00a0\u00a0Counting the credits, I can easily imagine at least three (3)\u00a0dozen. \u00a0That’s impressive.\u00a0 Senior representatives of expert organizations\u00a0were not\u00a0consulted.\u00a0 At least this is not stated.<\/p>\n Experts are well served now by an extensive literature, conferences and workshops.\u00a0 Included are the\u00a0publications and meetings by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and\u00a0SEAK, Inc.
